#New Hoffmann SE Headquarters with Innovation and Customer Experience Centre

Alongside providing an extra entrance to the building via outdoor stairways and natural daylight for the basement, the terraced courtyard is an exterior zone with multiple functions.

The new headquarters for Hoffmann SE with an Innovation Centre and work places for 1250 employees is being developed close to the new District Centre München-Freiham. The five-storey polygon-shaped structure encloses a landscaped courtyard and forms an urban landmark with a 14 storey tower at the north eastern corner of the site. A two storey arcade, which forms a buffer to the road along the east side, can be used as a covered walkway for pedestrians on their way to the S Bahn railway station just south of the plot. The main entrance at the foot of the tower provides access to the foyer with the adjoining Innovation and Customer Experience Centre, as well as the shared functions, such as the conference zone and restaurant. The new Hoffmann office space is accommodated on the third floor and upwards into the tower. Terraces in the courtyard and on the roof offer opportunities to work outdoors. Customers, visitors and employees benefit from the varied planting of the exteriors; the greenery also has lots of positive ecological effects, ranging from greater biodiversity and water retention facilities to an improved micro climate.

Development of the volume

To begin with, some parts of the building are going to be sublet. This will ensure that there is sufficient space for the further growth of the company.

The colour range of the facade was developed from pictures taken of the surrounding landscape during the competition phase.

Facade section competition status

The use of the building is visible in the facades. The design of the arcade with irregularly placed slender posts is continued in the transparent post-and-beam facade of the first two storeys and thus permits views into the semi-public areas beyond. The office levels above are fully glazed but concealed behind full-height strips of ceramic cladding.

The landscape architects involved in the competition, Auböck + Karaz, suggested a winding bicycle and footpath, which meanders through gently rolling topography in front of the building.
