The multifunctional laboratory and institute building for various institutes of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is located on the new RWTH Melaten campus and serves as its entrance portal in terms of urban planning. The building is divided by facade bands that partially protrude as canopies and consists of a total of three components: An institute building with laboratory and office space including a technical floor, a connecting building with additional laboratory space, meeting rooms, and technical areas, and the cleanroom center with cleanroom research areas and an adjacent technical area. The new building will be used by multiple institutes. The reorganization of the laboratory areas will enable the various institutes to interact with one another. At the same time, it will promote exchange between the departments.
