Campus/ Student Hostel Salzburg-Urstein

BRIEF Technical University, student residence hall, and research park embedded within the context of a landscape. | ADDED VALUE The preservation of the idyllic fruit tree meadows and the maximization of the view onto a fantastic alpine panoramic landscape define the design. The Techinical University and the residential facilities are organized compactly and occupy only 14% of the lot. The student residence building works simultaneously as a noise barrier to the train tracks, providing a peaceful atmosphere on campus. The landscape platforms of the research park are embedded into the topography, whose green roofs provide a continuation of the meadow landscape.

CAMPUS/ STUDENT HOSTEL, SALZBURG-URSTEIN | AUSTRIA The new building of the student hostel combined with the technical college create the beginning of the Technology park Urstein. The slightly curved structure of the hostel develops from the sites topography. Simultaneously they are borderline and noise protection for the campus park, that has been available to the students for leisure and recreation. The required number of 328 apartments are devided between two 5-7 storeyed buildings. All apartments on the campus park face west. The connection follows along the east side over leavy paths. An existing large format glass facade protects from weather and noise. The west facade follows the topography of the campus park. Orange-red plastered balustrade contrasts with charcoal grey receding window strips.
