BRIEF Modernisation of the existing insurance building from the early 70s: modification of the offices, corridors and communal areas in keeping with the quality standard of the new buildings. | ADDED VALUE Spacious lounges will be created in the front area of the development core as a communicative break in the double-loaded cell structure. These serve not only as a representative entrance area for the individual floors but are, at the same time, also a place of communication and social exchange for all employees.
STADTFENSTER, AACHEN | GERMANY The office building from the early 70s is part of the head office of the AachenMünchener insurance company. In 2010 several new buildings were added and now the existing office floors are to be modernised so that, despite their independent exterior appearance, they are clearly perceived as being part of the overall building ensemble through the new interior. The offices, corridors and communal areas of the individual floors will be adapted to suit the characteristics of the new building with white painted walls and ceilings and a uniform black carpet.
A white podium marks the new communal area opposite the lift group and offers a panoramic 360 degree view of Aachen city centre. A counter will develop from this viewing platform which will serve as a reception counter and will also conceal the kitchen unit of the communication area.
