BRIEF New laboratory building with lab facilities, evaluation workplaces, library, training and conference areas ADDED VALUE The clever arrangement of labs, evaluation workplaces, meeting rooms and coffee points creates valuable space which enhances the communication among occupants.
CVUA laboratory building | Hürth (DE) The four-storey new build is a free-standing element on a landscaped site. The main entrance to the building on Winterstraße is visible from afar. Whereas the public areas, such as the library, training and conference rooms, are accommodated on the ground floor, the laboratories and evaluation workplaces are on the first floor. The labs are compactly arranged in a block between the two access cores in the centre of the building (hard core). The evaluation and assessment workplaces, meeting and lounge areas are arranged in a continuous flow of open space (soft shell) around the outside. This landscaped communication zone, which also provides access to the various areas, offers views to the outside world. The facade design is also based on the idea of a vibrant laboratory building. Flexible full-storey levels are either set back or protrude according to the needs of the interior and the building lines stipulated by the authorities. The facade of framed glazing plays with different widths, opaque and glazed elements. In addition to providing interesting views out of the building, it also creates good lighting conditions in the deeper zones of the laboratory area.
