"ETM CAMPUS MELATEN"

The shell for the second construction phase of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Melaten campus of RWTH Aachen is currently under construction.
The interdisciplinary, multi-functional laboratory and institute building is located at the new RWTH campus Melaten. In terms of urban design, it functions as an entrance to the university grounds. The new build is structured by protruding horizontal bands, that double as a canopy roof, and consists of a total of three structural elements: the institute building with laboratories and offices, including a full storey for technical equipment, a connecting element with additional labs, meeting and plant rooms, as well as a cleanroom centre with cleanroom research areas and adjoining technical zones.
An interdisciplinary laboratory zone is established in close cooperation with the five different users with the aim of
encouraging the communication and collaboration among the institutes and achieving an efficient use of building services.
Completion of the building is scheduled for 2021.
